Dynamics 365 2021 Wave 2 is here

It’s here. Microsoft Dynamics 365 2021 Wave 2 launches on 1 October 2021. This latest release focuses on Microsoft 365 integration, tenant administration and ten more country and regional expansions.

We’re intrigued by Guides, a mixed reality app. It uses HoloLens and other technologies to display work instructions and other information live and on-site. It’ll help workers get on with their tasks with minimal disruption – we can’t wait to deploy it.

Dynamics 365 Marketing offers enhanced personalisation, including AI integration to improve customer acquisition and loyalty.


Dynamics 365 Sales has expanded capabilities, including Microsoft Teams enhancements, improved integration with LinkedIn and better pipeline management.


Dynamics 365 Customer Service includes AI-powered knowledge-authoring enhancements, omnichannel support, machine learning, effort estimation and improved historical analytics.

Dynamics 365 Field Service offers a new customer portal with self-scheduling and appointment-management capabilities, as well as work order enhancements.

Finance and Operations

Dynamics 365 Finance brings machine learning to financial operations for improved usability and performance.

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management has new investments in resource planning, manufacturing, asset management, planning and inventory management.

Dynamics 365 Project Operations connects sales, resourcing, project management, and finance teams in one application.

Finance and Operations cross-app capabilities use Microsoft Power Platform to enable environment provisioning, authorisation and authentication, run-time events, and developer tools. New capabilities include enhanced data exchange between Finance and Operations apps, Microsoft Dataverse, and Customer Engagement apps in Dynamics 365.

Human Resources

Dynamics 365 Human Resources provides enhanced Benefits management and employee workflow capabilities.


Dynamics 365 Commerce includes improvements in customer segmentation, integrating with Microsoft Clarity, and enhancements to reordering and admin features.

Fraud Protection

Dynamics 365 Fraud Protection offers deeper fraud observability, web-based services and expanded integration for payment service providers.


Dynamics 365 Business Central features simplified tenant administration and expanded Microsoft 365 integration, including country and regional expansions in 10 more markets.

Connected Store

Dynamics 365 Connected Store has new features using AI models and insights and improved queue management.


Dynamics 365 Guides uses HoloLens to help users create guides without specialist skills and offers an updated user experience.

Remote Assist

Dynamics 365 Remote Assist will cascade Microsoft Teams meeting policies for Remote Assist users to simply configuration.

Customer Insights

Audience insights adds capabilities to build unified customer profiles, including churn predictions and data ingestion improvements.

Engagement insights connects multiple data sources and channels for deeper analytics and improved downstream actions, activations, and optimisations.

Customer Voice

Dynamics 365 Customer Voice helps survey owners to action feedback based on insights and trends.

Microsoft Cloud for Industry Solutions

Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare enhances patient experiences, coordinates patient care, and drives operational efficiency. Wave 2 includes a unified patient profile and activity timeline, improved data ingestion into Microsoft Dataverse, and expansion to more countries and regions.

Microsoft Cloud for Financial Services enhances customer experiences and increases retention through a unified customer profile. It includes transparent loan onboarding through process automation and integration with Microsoft Teams loan manager.

Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit launches two new volunteering applications: a volunteer management model-driven app to manage engagement opportunities and a Power Apps portal for volunteer recruitment.
