What is an AI PC?

What is the difference between an AI PC and a Copilot+ PC?
Every Copilot+ PC is an AI PC, but not every AI PC is a Copilot+ PC. Copilot+ PCs are Microsoft's top tier, with an NPU that performs more than 40 trillion operations per second (TOPS), plus minimum memory and storage. That unlocks exclusive Windows 11 features such as Click to Do, improved Windows search and Live Captions translation.
What is the difference between an AI PC and a normal PC?
A normal PC runs AI tasks on its CPU or graphics chip, which uses more power and slows other work. An AI PC offloads those tasks to a dedicated NPU, so features like background blur on Teams calls run smoothly while preserving battery life.
Are Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 Copilot+ PCs?
Surface Laptop 6 and Surface Pro 10 are AI PCs with an Intel Core Ultra processor and built-in NPU that accelerates Microsoft Copilot experiences. Microsoft's Copilot+ PC features require an NPU of 40+ TOPS, which is found in Surface Pro 11th Edition, Surface Laptop 7th Edition and the newer Surface for Business models.
Do I need a Copilot+ PC to use Microsoft 365 Copilot?

Is a Surface Pro good for business?

Is Microsoft Surface being discontinued?
No. Microsoft continues to release new Surface for Business devices, including the latest Surface Pro and Surface Laptop Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon X2 and Intel Core Ultra (Series 3) processors.
Can Surface devices be repaired?
Recent Surface models are designed with repairability in mind — for example, Surface Laptop 6 offers replaceable parts including the motherboard and battery. Microsoft also offers extended protection plans for business devices.
Can you deploy Surface devices with Intune and Autopilot?
Yes. We set up Windows Autopilot and Microsoft Intune so devices can ship directly to staff and configure themselves at first sign-in — apps, security policies, Wi-Fi and updates applied automatically, with no manual imaging.
How secure are Surface for Business devices?
Surface for Business devices combine hardware and software security from Microsoft, including a TPM, Windows Hello sign-in and BitLocker encryption, and can be centrally managed and wiped with Microsoft Intune if a device is lost.
Windows 10 support has ended — what should we do?
Windows 10 reached end of support on 14 October 2025, so it no longer receives free security updates. Businesses can buy Extended Security Updates for a limited time — the first year ends on 13 October 2026 and the cost rises each year. Devices that can run Windows 11 should be upgraded; older ones should be replaced. We can assess your fleet and plan a staged move to Windows 11 on Surface.
Can Recall and other AI features be controlled by IT?
Yes. On managed business devices, Recall is disabled and removed by default, and administrators control Copilot+ PC features through Intune and Windows policies. We configure these settings to match your privacy and compliance requirements.
How long does it take to roll out new Surface devices?
With Windows Autopilot and Intune in place, each device sets itself up at first sign-in, so staff can usually start work the same day they receive it. Setting up Autopilot and Intune for the first time is a short project that we plan with you before devices ship.
