Customizing Dynamics NAV 2016 Using Extensions - Eagle360 Consulting

It had always been difficult for both customers and solution providers to manage customizations that have been implemented to make Dynamics NAV fit better into an organization’s business.  Keeping up to date with and upgrading to the most current version of Dynamics NAV becomes an issue, for example.  Testing and ensuring customisations work as intended or re-writing code to suit newer versions of Dynamics NAV becomes a major undertaking and can in cases, put off an organisation from moving to new versions.

With the release of Dynamics NAV 2016, Microsoft provides a framework for customisations to be created and deployed that is simpler and with less risk.  NAV 2016 extensions allow modifications and enhancements to Dynamics NAV without directly changing the core application which makes it easier to develop, test, deploy, and manage customisations.  It gives end-users the flexibility to add published customisations on their own to add specific functionality to fit a business industry requirement.  A company that manages car rentals, as an example, might in the future be able to just go and find an appropriate solution for their business and install the extension themselves.  If that extension didn’t work for them, they can uninstall that extension and have NAV 2016 running as before with minimal risk.  You can find out more from this link.
